The Bancroft PTO is an all-volunteer group of Bancroft parents, caregivers and staff, dedicated to supporting the education of all children at Bancroft Elementary. As a school-affiliated organization, the PTO partners closely with Bancroft teachers, staff and administrators to support school projects and events. As an independent nonprofit organization, the PTO runs on the hard work of dozens of community volunteers every year and is governed by a democratically-elected board of parent/caregiver volunteers.

What does the Bancroft PTO do?
The Bancroft PTO organizes and supports lots of important school projects and fun events every year! In particular, the PTO is focused on:

• Building a strong Bancroft community by creating opportunities for Bancroft families, students and staff to connect, grow and celebrate together. For example:

  • Organizing community-building events like the annual Bancroft rollerskating night and the Spring Family Fun Fest

  • Hosting monthly PTO meetings where families can learn more about school activities and connect directly with other families and Bancroft administrators

• Supporting and advocating for Bancroft students and families by finding ways to share resources within our school and coordinating opportunities for Bancroft families to make their voices heard within Minneapolis Public Schools and beyond. For example:

  • Coordinating an annual winter clothing drive and exchange for Bancroft families

  • Organizing listening sessions for Bancroft parents and staff with our school board representatives

• Raising money and providing volunteers to support essential learning opportunities like field trips for Bancroft students, and to cover supply and equipment needs for teachers and classrooms. For example:

  • Organizing the annual Bancroft Read-a-Thon and Book Fair

  • Coordinating an annual Silent Auction to fund field trips and teacher supply requests

Who belongs in the PTO?
All parents and caregivers of Bancroft students are members of the PTO! Bancroft teachers and staff are too. If you’re a part of the Bancroft school community, and you have energy and enthusiasm for supporting our students, staff and school, then YOU belong in the PTO!
